The 91st Installation of the Rotary Club of Colombo took place on the 7th of July at the Grand Marquee (North Lawn) Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo

Sudu David of Chilaw – Sewing Machine
Sudu David is 81 years old with deformities in both hands and an ulcer on his right leg. He lives with his wife and married son. Rotary has provided him with a sewing machine so that his wife and daughter in law can sew garments, pillowcases, etc. to sell in his neighborhood.
M. U. Thaiyoobah of Batticaloa – Sewing Machine and Bicycle
Thaiyoobah’s Father and Elder Sister who live in the same house are Leprosy Patients. She is married with two Daughters and her husband has deserted the family. The two daughters are doing very well in their studies. Dilsha Banu had 9 ‘A’s at GCE (Ordinary Level) Examination and is following GCE (Advanced Level) classes. Fathima Athuba always comes first in her class with constant averages around 90 in each subject.
Rotary has provided her with a sewing machine which she uses to make garments and a bicycle to help in the transport of her garments to the market and also for the two daughters to go to school. Rotary has only subsidized the purchase and she has found the balance required for the sewing machine and bicycle.

W. T. U. Premadasa of Kaduwela – New Toilet
This Leprosy Patient is with a disfigured face. He is 72 years old and lives with his wife in Kaduwela. As his toilet was completely unusable, and sinking into the cesspit, Rotary built a new toilet for them.
D. M. Ukubanda of Monaragala
It was originally planned to provide a bicycle to D.M. Karunaratne. However, as Karunaratne had made arrangements with another donor we changed the recipient to D.M. Ukkubanda who was even more deserving.
Ukkubanda lives about 6 Km. from the main road and found it very difficult to get to town after “recovering” to some extent from Leprosy. Rotary has provided him with a bicycle which he uses to take items of produce to the market in tow
