Hope in Motion: A Journey of Compassion and Faith by Rotary Club of Colombo
In the quiet heart of Vavuniya, we had the privilege of witnessing transformation take flight on last Saturday 26/07/2025 – sixteen bicycles handed over to young schoolchildren and aspiring entrepreneurs through our “Hope on Wheels” initiative. Each bicycle is more than just a means of transport—it’s a bridge to opportunity, independence, and dreams.
The smiles of the recipients spoke louder than words, echoing the power of community and the profound impact of small acts of kindness. Their resilience inspired us, and their gratitude reminded us why we serve.
Following this moving ceremony at the VIA Village Entrepreneur Center (our local partner) in Echchankulam, we journeyed along the Echchankulam – Palampiddi Road, winding through the serene Vanni Jungles, to offer prayers at the sacred shrine of Madu Church. There, we lit candles and bowed our heads in hope—for the youth, for peace, and for our fellow Rotary members.
Our day concluded with a visit to the hallowed grounds of the Ruwanwelisaya in Anuradhapura, where we closed the day in solemn reflection, strengthened by faith and unity.
Together, we ride with purpose.
